Job Summary
We are seeking a Disaster Recovery Engineer to support an established Disaster Recovery Engineering program within a large healthcare enterprise environment. This role is focused on infrastructure-first disaster recovery planning and resiliency initiatives to ensure critical enterprise services remain recoverable and operational. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure, disaster recovery planning, virtualization platforms, and backup technologies, along with the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, networking, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, and develop disaster recovery strategies and recovery plans to support enterprise resiliency initiatives
- Support disaster recovery planning and execution for foundational infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization platforms
- Participate in enterprise disaster recovery readiness assessments and identify gaps, risks, and single points of failure
- Contribute to remediation planning and collaborate with platform subject matter experts to improve system recoverability
- Develop, maintain, and update disaster recovery documentation including runbooks, recovery procedures, and operational guides
- Participate in disaster recovery testing activities including failover, failback, and tabletop exercises
- Provide hands-on support during disaster recovery events, incident response, and recovery operations
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and security teams to align disaster recovery and resiliency strategies
- Support ongoing improvements to recovery processes, testing methodologies, and resiliency planning initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or disaster recovery-related roles
- Practical experience with disaster recovery or resiliency planning in large-scale enterprise environments
- Experience with infrastructure technologies including:
- Active Directory
- DNS and DHCP services
- VMware or other virtualization platforms
- Experience with enterprise backup and recovery tools such as:
- Dell Avamar
- PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM)
- Rubrik
- Cohesity
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery concepts including Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Recovery Point Objective (RPO), and business continuity principles
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional technical teams
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in healthcare, hospital systems, or other regulated industries
- Exposure to business continuity planning, disaster recovery testing, or Disaster Impacts Model (DIM) initiatives
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts including firewall technologies and infrastructure security dependencies
- Experience participating in enterprise-scale disaster recovery exercises and remediation efforts
Certifications
- CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) or CFCP (Certified Functional Continuity Professional) certifications preferred
