  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a Senior CICS Systems Programmer to support and maintain production CICS environments with a focus on system-level programming, high availability, and disaster recovery. This role is centered on infrastructure and configuration rather than application development, requiring deep expertise in IBM CICS Transaction Server and z/OS environments. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring system stability, supporting modernization initiatives, and enabling operational resilience.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Support and maintain CICS environments in production, ensuring stability and performance
    • Manage CICS regions including Application Owning Region (AOR) and Work Owning Region (WOR)
    • Perform system-level programming tasks, including configuration, tuning, and maintenance
    • Contribute to high availability initiatives, including LPAR failover capabilities
    • Support future CICSplex implementation for multi-LPAR load balancing
    • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and runbook updates
    • Collaborate with infrastructure teams including storage, middleware, and disaster recovery
    • Perform installation, upgrades, and maintenance using SMP/E
    • Support and integrate IBM MQ within CICS environments as needed
    • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system issues
    • Provide knowledge transfer and documentation to support team continuity

    Required Qualifications
    • 8+ years of hands-on experience as a CICS Systems Programmer in enterprise environments
    • Expert-level knowledge of IBM CICS Transaction Server
    • Strong experience with z/OS system programming
    • Extensive experience with SMP/E including installation, upgrades, and maintenance
    • Experience supporting IBM MQ in CICS-integrated environments
    • Strong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery concepts
    • Ability to manage end-to-end system responsibilities in a non-siloed environment
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in smaller or less complex CICS environments with end-to-end ownership
    • Exposure to CICSplex and multi-LPAR architectures
    • Experience supporting distributed applications integrated with CICS
    • Familiarity with legacy system architectures and modernization initiatives
