  • Job Summary
    The Senior Automation PKI Ops Engineer will support PKI operations while helping automate manual processes within the PKI and Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) space. This hands-on role will manage daily work through Jira, execute certificate-related activities, troubleshoot scripts, support engineering teams, and progressively improve operational processes through PowerShell and Python scripting and automation.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Process daily PKI operational work through Jira, including request intake, validation, and execution.
    • Review and interpret incoming requests to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Execute certificate-related tasks using manual processes, application UIs, PowerShell, and Python scripting.
    • Modify and execute scripts with appropriate inputs to support operational activities.
    • Troubleshoot failed scripts and understand script execution flows.
    • Support and collaborate with engineering teams to align operational processes.
    • Identify opportunities to improve and automate manual PKI processes.
    • Document operational procedures and process improvements.
    • Gradually reduce manual work through increased scripting and automation.

    Required Qualifications
    • Strong understanding of PKI concepts, including certificate structure, certificate lifecycle, Extended Key Usages (EKUs), and validation criteria.
    • Experience with PowerShell and/or Python scripting, including the ability to modify and execute existing scripts.
    • Experience with REST APIs, including token-based and certificate-based authentication.
    • Understanding of programmatic credential retrieval.
    • Familiarity with Jira for ticketing and workflow management.
    • Familiarity with Confluence for technical documentation.
    • Experience with Active Directory, including nested permissions and logical access models.
    • Ability to independently read and interpret technical documentation.
    • Strong operational mindset with attention to accuracy and process execution.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with Venafi for certificate management.
    • Strong automation mindset with the ability to identify manual processes, break them into logical steps, and convert them into scriptable workflows.
    • Experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
