  • Position Summary
    The Linux and Windows Workstation System Administrator is responsible for deploying, securing, maintaining, and supporting desktop and laptop systems used by engineering, development, and technical staff. This role manages workstation images, user access, patching, software distribution, endpoint security, virtualization support, and troubleshooting across Linux and Windows workstation environments, including Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Proxmox, Windows 10, and Windows 11. The administrator also supports engineering toolchains and collaboration platforms such as Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Administer Linux and Windows workstations including provisioning, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management
    2. Maintain standardized workstation builds across Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Windows 10, and Windows 11
    3. Support Proxmox environments used for workstation virtualization and testing
    4. Administer Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, and Jenkins in coordination with engineering and DevOps teams
    5. Manage user accounts and access controls including authentication and permissions
    6. Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and applications across workstation environments
    7. Support endpoint security including encryption, antivirus, logging, and compliance requirements
    8. Automate administration tasks using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or configuration management tools
    9. Manage software packaging and deployment including updates and developer tool installation
    10. Document workstation standards, procedures, and support processes
    11. Partner with engineering and cybersecurity teams to resolve incidents and improve reliability

    Required Qualifications
    1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
    2. Minimum 3+ years of system administration in Linux and/or Windows environments
    3. Strong knowledge of Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Windows 10, and Windows 11
    4. Experience supporting Proxmox virtualization
    5. Experience administering Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, and Jenkins
    6. Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
    7. Familiarity with centralized authentication (LDAP, Active Directory, SSO)
    8. Experience with patch management and endpoint hardening
    9. Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, hardware, networking, and applications

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience supporting engineering or developer workstation environments
    2. Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Microsoft Intune, or Group Policy
    3. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control administration, and issue tracking workflows
    4. Experience with virtualization, containers, or cloud infrastructure
    5. Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, Microsoft, Atlassian, Jenkins
