  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong backend development expertise to build and optimize high-performance services and cloud-based data processing pipelines. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, microservices, and automated testing while delivering secure, scalable, and reliable enterprise applications in a data-intensive environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade backend services using Java 21, Spring Boot, and microservice architectures.
    • Build and optimize distributed data processing pipelines using AWS EMR, Apache Spark, and cloud-native services.
    • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs supporting enterprise applications.
    • Implement automated testing using Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), JUnit, Cucumber, and mocking frameworks.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant software solutions.
    • Improve system reliability through monitoring, logging, performance tuning, and observability practices.
    • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure applications adhere to security, audit, and operational best practices.
    • Support CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and performance issues.

    Required Qualifications
    • 5–7 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or Backend Engineer.
    • Strong proficiency in Java 21 and Spring Boot.
    • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
    • Strong experience with AWS services, including EMR, Apache Spark, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, and CloudWatch.
    • Experience designing distributed systems and data processing pipelines.
    • Strong understanding of parallel processing concepts.
    • Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), JUnit, Cucumber, and automated testing frameworks.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, Jenkins, or GitLab.
    • Strong Java programming fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
    • Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments.
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
    • Willingness to work onsite in Riverwoods, IL.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in financial services, fintech, risk management, or high-volume transaction platforms.
    • Experience with Apache Spark and AWS EMR.
    • Experience with Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, or other streaming technologies.
    • Exposure to DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Docker, and Kubernetes.
    • Understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and event-driven architectures.
    • Experience with performance tuning for low-latency, high-throughput systems.
