  • Job Summary:
    The Senior .NET / SQL Server Developer will support the development, modernization, and enhancement of enterprise applications within a payroll-focused environment. This hands-on role focuses on C#, modern .NET, Microsoft SQL Server, backend application development, database development, and modernization of business-critical applications. The developer will collaborate with technical and business teams throughout the software development lifecycle to deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-performing solutions.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Design, develop, test, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using C# and modern .NET.
    • Design and develop scalable backend application components, services, and business logic.
    • Develop, optimize, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, complex queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
    • Perform SQL query optimization, database performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
    • Support modernization and migration of legacy applications to modern .NET-based architectures.
    • Analyze existing application functionality and business logic to support modernization initiatives.
    • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
    • Troubleshoot complex application and database issues and implement effective long-term solutions.
    • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, database teams, and other technical stakeholders to develop scalable and maintainable solutions.
    • Support data integration between enterprise applications and systems.
    • Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and reusable code while following established development standards and best practices.
    • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvements in application architecture and development practices.
    • Support applications deployed within containerized environments, including Kubernetes, where applicable.
    • Contribute to frontend development using React as needed.

    Required Qualifications
    • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience in enterprise application environments.
    • Strong hands-on development experience with C# and modern .NET, including .NET Core and .NET 8/10.
    • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
    • Strong SQL development skills, including complex query development, stored procedure development, query optimization, database design, performance tuning, and database troubleshooting.
    • Strong experience designing and developing backend applications, services, and business logic.
    • Experience supporting and maintaining large-scale, business-critical enterprise applications.
    • Experience troubleshooting application and database issues in development and production environments.
    • Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and coding best practices.
    • Experience working throughout the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience supporting payroll, human capital management (HCM), financial services, or other complex enterprise business applications.
    • Experience with legacy application modernization or system migration initiatives, including migration from mainframe or COBOL-based applications to modern .NET architectures.
    • Experience with React or other modern JavaScript frontend frameworks.
    • Experience working with Kubernetes and containerized application environments.
    • Experience with data integration and enterprise system interfaces.
    • Experience developing or consuming REST APIs and web services.
    • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
