Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead quality engineering initiatives and strengthen automated testing across modern cloud-native applications. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and enhancing API and UI automation frameworks while improving test reliability, observability, and execution quality. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with API automation, UI automation, SQL, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Agile software development practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks for API, UI, and microservices applications.
• Lead quality engineering best practices, automation standards, and test governance initiatives.
• Develop and maintain automated API test suites using Karate or similar frameworks.
• Develop and maintain UI automation using Cypress or equivalent automation tools.
• Create reusable automation utilities and shared testing components.
• Monitor automated test execution, analyze failures, and coordinate issue resolution with development teams.
• Improve test suite stability, maintainability, execution performance, and overall reliability.
• Develop automation strategies for REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Design and implement effective test data strategies, including data seeding, mocking, and synthetic data generation.
• Write complex SQL queries to validate application data, troubleshoot issues, and support test execution.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, product teams, and QA engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Analyze application logs, distributed systems, and backend services to diagnose test failures.
• Improve test coverage, pipeline health, and CI/CD automation quality.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document automation frameworks, testing standards, and quality engineering processes.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5–7 years of hands-on experience in software test automation.
• Strong experience with API automation frameworks.
• Strong experience with UI automation frameworks.
• Experience with Karate or similar API automation tools.
• Experience with Cypress or similar UI automation frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills, including joins, filters, aggregations, and data validation.
• Working knowledge of Java for automation framework development and maintenance.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript for UI automation.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with event-driven architectures; Kafka experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of test data management, mocking, and synthetic data generation.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Kafka testing and event-driven application validation.
• Experience with AWS cloud-native applications.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation practices.
• Familiarity with application observability tools, logging platforms, dashboards, and monitoring solutions.
• Experience improving automation framework performance, reliability, and execution efficiency.
• Experience supporting distributed enterprise applications and microservices architectures.
