  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a Project Engineer to support Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects integrated with data center developments and utility power infrastructure. This role will support the full project lifecycle, including design, planning, construction, commissioning, and project turnover. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background, experience with BESS technologies, and the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines to ensure successful project execution. This position combines engineering and project coordination responsibilities with periodic field engagement to support construction activities and resolve project challenges.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Support Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects associated with data center developments and utility interconnections.
    • Participate in project activities from early-stage design and planning through construction, commissioning, and turnover.
    • Review, interpret, and coordinate electrical engineering documentation, including:
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Schematics
    • Grounding systems
    • Protection systems
    • Interconnection studies
    • Technical specifications
    • Coordinate activities between electrical, civil, mechanical, utility, and data center construction teams.
    • Support integration of BESS solutions with substations, utility feeds, medium-voltage systems, and low-voltage infrastructure.
    • Participate in project planning, scheduling, risk identification, and constructability reviews.
    • Attend and contribute to project meetings with engineering teams, EPC partners, contractors, utilities, vendors, and stakeholders.
    • Communicate project status, technical issues, risks, and action items to project teams and leadership.
    • Track RFIs, submittals, change requests, action items, and project deliverables.
    • Support construction execution through periodic site visits and field coordination activities.
    • Assist with issue resolution and ensure alignment between engineering design intent and field implementation.
    • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to support successful project delivery.
    • Travel to project sites as required to support construction, commissioning, and project execution activities.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
    • 6+ years of electrical engineering experience.
    • Experience supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
    • 2+ years of project engineering experience.
    • Strong understanding of electrical power systems and infrastructure.
    • Ability to review and interpret electrical drawings, studies, and technical documentation.
    • Experience supporting one or more of the following:
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • Data center construction or power infrastructure
    • Utility-scale generation, transmission, or interconnection projects
    • Large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
    • Experience working in construction, field engineering, or project execution environments.
    • Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work effectively across engineering, construction, operations, contractors, and utility teams.
    • Comfortable balancing office-based engineering responsibilities with field engagement.
    • Willingness to travel approximately once per month to project locations, including Juno Beach.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
    • Experience with power system analysis and design tools such as PSCAD or ETAP.
    • Familiarity with applicable IEC standards, including:
    • IEC 61215
    • IEC 61646
    • IEC 61730
    • Experience supporting large-scale energy infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
    • Knowledge of utility interconnection processes and grid integration requirements.

    Certifications
    • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification (Preferred)
